Kermit Zarley summarizes and expands on his magnum opus, The Restitution: Biblical Proof Jesus Is NOT God, which is an examination of the major texts in the Bible as to whether they say Jesus is God. In The Gospel Corrupted, Kermit continues his allegation that church fathers were influenced by Greek philosophy in departing from Jewish monotheism. He claims they wrongly added to the original gospel, the ”good news,” by asserting that Jesus is God, God is three persons, and this “doctrine of the Trinity” must be believed to receive salvation.

Reminiscent of Martin Luther’s “95 Theses,” this book is partially a letter that begins, “Hello Church Fathers,… I have a complaint against some of you.” Zarley, a Trinitarian for 22 years, then tells his story of how he came to question the doctrine of the Trinity after reading Jesus’ Olivet Discourse, wherein Jesus said he did not know the time of his second coming. This and other texts caused Kermit to question the deity of Christ. He then undertook a 28-year study of the Bible that resulted in him affirming all that the church has proclaimed about Jesus except that he is God. In The Gospel Corrupted, the author shows that the New Testament gospel, which must be believed to receive salvation, only requires a belief that Jesus Christ is Lord, he died for our sins, and God raised him from the dead.
